Labs don’t just use Confident LIMS — they rely on it. In our 2025 lab survey, we observed that employees across labs’ entire business use Confident, that 89% of respondents reported using Confident every single day, and more than 80% have been with us for over a year. Respondents included a representative sample of Confident’s analytical testing laboratory users in the United States and Canada.

Below, those survey responses are presented in precise stats to illustrate how much labs depend on Confident to run their business every day.

Who at the Lab Uses Confident LIMS?

When we asked What role(s) do you have at your lab?”, we saw that Confident users span across all roles at the lab — not just the core Lab Team (43%) — including Leadership (25%), Front Office (21%), Back Office (6%), and Other roles (6%). Respondents could select multiple roles given that, reflecting how many people wear more than one hat.

When we group job titles into broader buckets, it becomes clear how many parts of the organization depend on Confident LIMS every day. Lab Team roles account for about 43% of all role selections, including lab operations, analysts, quality assurance, and lab managers. Leadership makes up roughly 25%, combining owners, CEOs, COOs, and lab directors. Another 21% comes from front-office roles like intake, accessioning, scheduling, customer service, and business development. Only about 6% each are back-office teams and other roles, such as accounting, payables, and a small set of miscellaneous functions. In practical terms, that means everyone from the bench to the boardroom is inside Confident LIMS, using it to keep samples, results, and compliance work moving.
Pie chart showing that 43% of role selections are Lab Team, 25% Leadership, 21% Front Office, 6% Back Office, and 6% Other, illustrating that nearly every part of the lab organization relies on Confident LIMS.

What this tells us: Confident isn’t a niche tool used by one department; it’s the shared system-of-record across leadership, lab operations, front office and back office teams — exactly where strategy, operations, compliance, and customer experience intersect.

Daily Usage: Confident LIMS as the Operational Hub

When we asked “How often do you typically use Confident?”, the results were decisive: 89% of respondents log in every day, underscoring that Confident is a daily operational system, not mission-critical tool for every day work.

Confident LIMS isn’t a system people log into occasionally — it’s part of the daily rhythm of the lab. When we asked, “How often do you typically use Confident?”, 89% of respondents said they use Confident every day. Another 7% use it a few times per week, while only 4% total use it less often than that (2% a few times per month and 2% rarely). In practical terms, that means nearly nine out of ten lab employees are in Confident LIMS every single day, using it to accession samples, review results, generate COAs, and communicate with clients.
Pie chart showing how often users access Confident LIMS: 89% use it every day, 7% a few times per week, 2% a few times per month, and 2% rarely, highlighting that most users rely on Confident daily.

With that level of daily usage, Confident effectively becomes the operational hub of the lab. If Confident isn’t available, work slows or stops. That’s why reliability, audit-ready data, and a workflow that makes sense to analysts, QA, and operations teams are so critical—and why our customers say they depend on Confident, not just “use” it.

For most labs, Confident is:

  • The system where samples are accessioned and tracked

  • The source-of-truth for all data and calculations

  • The source of COAs and regulatory records

  • The platform used to communicate results to clients (often via integrated client portals)

Without Confident, labs can’t operate — which is why we prioritize reliability (+99% uptime), cloud availability (work from anywhere), and fast human support (same day responses, <2 day median request-to-completion).

Long-Term Relationships: Labs Stay with Confident for Years

We then asked how long labs have used Confident LIMS. The answer wasn’t surprising, but it did make us proud: 82% of respondents have been on the platform for more than a year, and 40% for over three years.

When we look at how long labs have been using Confident LIMS, the picture is one of long-term reliance, not short-term trials. Only 18% of respondents have been with Confident for less than a year (11% under six months and 7% for six to twelve months). The remaining 82% have used Confident for more than a year, with 42% in the one-to-three-year range and another 40% relying on Confident for over three years. For a LIMS — where switching costs are high, training is intensive, and compliance is always under scrutiny — that kind of tenure is a strong signal that labs view Confident as a long-term operational partner. It’s the system they standardize on, build workflows around, and trust to stay stable as regulations and volumes change
Pie chart showing user tenure with Confident LIMS: 11% less than six months, 7% six to twelve months, 42% one to three years, and 40% more than three years, highlighting that 82% of users have been on the platform for over a year.

For a LIMS — where switching costs are high, training is intensive, and compliance is on the line — that length of tenure is a strong indicator that labs see Confident as a long-term operational partner, not a temporary tool.

This aligns with broader market data: Confident LIMS is the #1 LIMS in the legal cannabis industry for 10 years in a row, trusted by 100+ labs, 15,000+ testing clients, and more than 50% of licensed cannabis labs in North America.

Why Labs Depend on Confident

When labs build their daily workflows around Confident, they’re betting on more than software. They’re betting on:

1. Compliance-Ready Workflows

Confident LIMS supports ISO 17025, NELAP, SOC 2, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements with security and encryption, immutable audit trails, point-in-time backups, and role-based access controls.

For QA leaders, that means:

  • Every result and revision is traceable

  • COAs are compliant, reliable, and client-ready

  • Data is easily retrievable and always audit-ready

2. Deep Integration with Lab Equipment and Third-Party Software Systems

Hundreds of labs (and thousands of their testing clients) use Confident to easily transfer data to/from their analytical instruments, regulatory systems (Metrc, BioTrack, etc), CRMs, ERPs (Quickbooks), and labeling systems — dramatically reducing manual data entry and the risk of transcription errors.

This matters when:

  • Regulations or requirements change suddenly

  • Labs need to use data reliably and efficiently across multiple systems, not just within the LIMS

3. Client Experience that Keeps Revenue Flowing

Confident’s industry-standard Client Portal and Testing Network enables customers to order tests, track their status, and securely access test results, chain of custody forms, and invoices in one place — a key reason labs stay and expand their usage over time.

For lab managers and front office teams, this translates to:

  • Fewer angry client emails and status update calls

  • Faster turnaround on COA delivery

  • A more modern client portal that keeps clients loyal

  • Robust exports, analytics, and API integrations that clients demand

  • Longer and more profitable client relationships

How We Use This Survey Data

At Confident, we have a simple but powerful mantra that we learned from our time at Y Combinator (S15):

“Build something people want.”

Easy to say. Hard to do.

That’s why we didn’t conduct this survey just for a slide deck. We use the feedback to prioritize our product roadmap and support investments across the company.

Here’s how user feedback like this shapes our work:

  • High daily usage → We continually focus on performance, uptime, and an intuitive UX for busy analysts and technicians.

  • Multi-role adoption → We invest in features for lab directors, quality managers, finance, customer service, and leadership — not just bench analysts — because Confident sits at the center of the entire lab business.

  • Short onboarding, Long tenure → We double down on migration tooling, change management support, and integrations that make it easier than any other LIMS to onboard with Confident, then grow with Confident for years.

Yes. Responses were aggregated and anonymized. We only report high-level percentages and counts — no lab names or sensitive operational details are disclosed.

Does this reflect all Confident customers?
It reflects the labs that responded to the 2025 survey. While it’s a subset of our entire customer base, the number of responses represents a statistically valid sample size and the mix of roles and tenure represents aligns closely with what we observe across our entire customer base.

How often will you repeat this survey?
We plan to run similar surveys regularly, so we can track how usage patterns evolve and continue to improve Confident for the teams who depend on it the most.

Closing Thoughts: Dependability Is the Real Feature

The story behind the numbers is simple:

  • Confident is used daily by everyone at the lab.

  • Most labs have relied on Confident for years because we don’t let them down.

  • Confident is the source of truth and system of record for labs

As a LIMS serving dynamic and regulated industries, this kind of feedback is why we get out of bed in the morning.

What’s a Rich Text element?

asd

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
